Why We Don't Collect Sensitive Health Data

Mind a Porter is a matching and logistics platform — we handle the booking, not your clinical information. Here's what that means for your privacy.

Why We Don't Collect Sensitive Health Data

Mind a Porter connects you with the right therapist and handles the practical side of booking — scheduling, payments, and reminders. We deliberately do not collect, store, or process your clinical or health data.

What we handle

When you book through Mind a Porter, we only use the information needed to arrange your appointment:

  • Your name and contact details — so we can confirm your booking and send reminders
  • Session logistics — whether you'd like in-person or online, your preferred location, language, and availability
  • Payment and billing — processed securely through Stripe

That's it. No questionnaires about your mental health history, no intake forms, no clinical records.

What we don't collect

We do not collect or store:

  • Intake forms or questionnaires about your symptoms or diagnosis
  • Session notes or clinical records
  • Reasons for seeking therapy or presenting concerns
  • Treatment plans or progress notes

Why we made this choice

Under UK GDPR, information about your physical or mental health is classed as "special category data" (Article 9) and requires heightened safeguards. Rather than placing your clinical data on a booking platform, we keep it where it belongs — between you and your therapist.

Your therapist keeps their own clinical notes and records, as required by their professional body (such as BACP, UKCP, HCPC, or BPS). Those records are governed by your therapist's own data protection practices and professional confidentiality obligations — not by Mind a Porter.

What happens in your sessions stays with your therapist

Anything you discuss during therapy — your history, concerns, progress, goals — remains between you and your therapist. Mind a Porter never sees, stores, or transmits that information.

If you need to share something clinically relevant before a session, contact your therapist directly using the details in your appointment confirmation.
