Complete guide to using your private health insurance for therapy at Mind à Porter

Guide

Step-by-Step

1

Check Your Policy

Review your insurance policy to confirm mental health coverage. Note any pre-authorization requirements, session limits, and excess fees.

2

Filter for Insurance-Eligible Therapists

When browsing therapists, use the insurance filter to see only Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, and Psychiatrists who can bill your insurance.

3

Enter Insurance Details at Booking

Select 'Insurance' as your payment method and enter your policy number, provider, and authorization code (if required).

4

Submit for Verification

Our admin team will verify your coverage within 24-48 hours. You'll receive confirmation once approved.

5

Attend Your Session

Once verified, attend your session. We'll bill your insurance directly. You may need to pay any excess or co-payment.

Using Insurance for Therapy Sessions

We accept major UK private health insurance providers. Only HCPC-registered psychologists (Clinical, Counselling, and Educational) and GMC-registered psychiatrists are eligible for insurance reimbursement.

Please book at least 5 working days before the appointment date (Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays). We need that window to verify your cover with your insurer before the session, so an appointment booked with fewer than 5 working days between the booking date and the appointment date cannot be covered by insurance. The same notice period applies if you switch an appointment you have already paid for to insurance. If your session is sooner than that, you can pay privately for it and use your insurance from the following session onwards.
