How to Purchase and Use a Gift Card

Giving the gift of therapy

A Mind a Porter e-gift card is a thoughtful way to show someone you care. It can be used towards any therapy session, psychiatry consultation, or assessment booked through our platform, either online or in person across London.

This guide walks you through both sides of the process: purchasing a gift card for someone else, and redeeming one if you have received one.

Part 1: How to Purchase a Gift Card

Step 1: Visit the Gift Cards page

Navigate to the Gift Cards page from the footer of any page on our website, or go directly to our gift cards page. You do not need an account to buy a gift card, guest checkout is available.

Step 2: Choose a gift card value

Select from one of the preset values, or enter a custom amount. Gift cards are available in GBP and can be loaded with any amount between £25 and £500.

Step 3: Personalise your gift

Add the following details:

• Recipient's name and email address — this is where the gift card will be delivered.
• Your name and your email address — so the recipient knows who sent it, and so you receive a purchase confirmation.
• Optional personal message — a short note that will be included in the gift card email.
• Delivery date — choose to send the gift card immediately, or schedule it for a future date (perfect for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions).

Step 4: Review and pay

Review your gift card summary, then proceed to secure checkout via Stripe. You can pay by card without needing to create an account.

Step 5: Gift card delivery

Once your payment is confirmed:

• If you chose immediate delivery, the gift card email is sent to the recipient right away.
• If you chose a scheduled date, the gift card email will be sent automatically on that date.

You will receive a purchase confirmation email at the address you provided. The recipient will receive an email containing their unique gift card code and instructions on how to use it.

Part 2: How to Use a Gift Card

Step 1: Find your therapist

Browse our directory of qualified therapists and find one that suits your needs. You can search by location, language, therapy type, and more. Once you have found the right therapist, begin the booking process.

Step 2: Complete the booking steps

Work through the booking steps as normal, selecting your appointment type, preferred format (online or in person), date, and time.

Step 3: Enter your gift card code at checkout

When you reach the payment step, look for the gift card field. Enter your unique gift card code (this will look something like

MAP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

) and click apply.

If your gift card covers the full session cost, your balance will be reduced to zero and you can complete the booking without entering any card details.

If your gift card only partially covers the cost, the remaining balance can be paid by card as normal.

Step 4: Your gift card balance

Your gift card has a running balance. Each time you use it, the amount is deducted from the remaining balance. You can use a single gift card across multiple bookings until the balance is fully redeemed.

For example, if you have a £100 gift card and book a £60 session, £60 will be deducted and you will have £40 remaining for future bookings.

Step 5: Gift card expiry

Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Be sure to use the full balance before the expiry date.

Can I use a gift card for any type of appointment?

Yes. Gift cards can be used towards therapy sessions, psychiatry consultations, and assessments booked through Mind a Porter.

Can I use my gift card across multiple bookings?

Yes. The gift card holds a running balance, so you can redeem it across as many bookings as you like until the balance reaches zero or the card expires.

What happens if my session costs more than my gift card balance?

You can pay the difference with a debit or credit card at checkout. The gift card will be applied first, and you will only be charged for the remaining amount.

What happens if my session costs less than my gift card balance?

The session cost will be deducted from your gift card balance, and the remaining balance will stay on the gift card for future use.

Can I get a refund on a gift card?

Gift cards are non-refundable. However, once redeemed towards a booking, the standard cancellation and refund policy applies to that booking.

I have not received my gift card email. What should I do?

If you purchased a gift card and neither you nor the recipient received an email, please check your spam folder. If you still cannot find it, contact our support team and we will resend it.

Can I send a gift card to someone outside the UK?

Yes. Gift cards can be sent to any valid email address worldwide. However, therapy sessions are available online across the UK and in person in London.
